#151 The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments was cut in an unusual Combination Cut - the center "Ten Commandments" section was cut in my Standard Cut while the purple background was cut in my Spiral Cut (formerly called Swirlie) A rare opportunity to experience two of my cutting styles in the same puzzle!

There is an average of 2.1 pieces per square inch. Puzzle has been handcut from 1/4" 5-ply Finland Birch using blades with a thickness of just 0.008. Approximate size is 7 3/4" X 9 1/4"

This is only the 2nd time that the number of the puzzle equals the piece count! This is purely by cooincidence, as I never know how many pieces the puzzle will have until it completely finished, sanded, photos taken, disassembled, and counted! Oddly enough, the other puzzle this happened with (#122 The Good Shepherd) also happened to be a religious print!

There are 3 figurals as shown above including my "key" signature piece (signed, numbered and dated on the back).

I was very careful with the interior- cutting through as little text as possible- so that it remained legible. (See enlargement below). Play a fun game with this puzzle and see how good your memory is.. before you solve the puzzle recite the Ten Commandments and then after you solve it, you can check yourself for accuracy!

As mentioned above, puzzle was cut in an unusual Combination Cut, meaning it incorporates two of my cutting styles in the same puzzle. This is only my 2nd Combination Cut puzzle to date. (The previous puzzle was #66, Zebra.) Some of the pieces shown below.

Puzzle is highly interlocking and can be picked up and turned over with just a few pieces falling out. Back of puzzle & enlargement shown below.

Puzzle comes with the beautiful wood box with hinged lid shown below. I purchased this box new and finished the outside with stain and varnish. I believe this is basswood. My label is affixed inside of the lid with the puzzle title, number, and piece count. This box measures 71/2" X 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" high.

Note: This puzzle contains small pieces which may present a choking hazard to children. It has been designed for adults or older children and is not meant for young children.
