Top
of the World was
made from a genuine
vintage art print from
the 1940's. I love old
art prints. Not only are
they in beautiful colors,
but they often reveal
little clues about the
era in which they were
published. For example,
the baby is wearing a
cloth diaper, I'm sure
this was years before
Pampers were ever
invented! Also notice the
glass baby bottle. The
artist of this print is Charlotte
Becker, famous
for her beautiful baby
and young children
portraits during the 1930s-1950s.
I haven't seen this
particular print come up
too often; it is one I
purchased at auction.
The print
has been mounted with
acid-free adhesive and
sealed on the front with
a non-yellowing acrylic
sealer prior to cutting..
The puzzle measures
approx 6 3/4"
X 8" at its
widest dimensions. Since
it has such an irregular
edge, it is hard to get
an exact measurement for
the piece ratio, but my
best estimate is There is
an average of 2.6 pieces
per square inch. Puzzle
has been handcut from 1/4"
5-ply Finland Birch using
blades with a thickness
of just 0.008.
|
Puzzle was
cut in my Standard
Cutting Style and is
highly interlocking.
There is one tiny dropout
in the puzzle. The
original print had a deep
blue background, and it
was necessary to drop out
this tiny deep blue spot
as well to be consistent
with the rest of the
picture.

There are 4
figurals as shown above.
Three baby related items
and my "key"
signature piece (signed,
numbered, and dated on
the back). Some
random pieces shown below.
|
Puzzle comes
with the beautiful wood
box with hinged
lid shown below. I
purchased this box new
and finished the outside
with stain and varnish. I
believe this is basswood.
My label is affixed to
the inside of the lid
with the puzzle title,
number, and piece count.
The box measures 5 1/4"
X 3" X 3" high.

small pieces which may
present a choking hazard
to children. It has been
designed for adults or
older children and is
not meant for young
children.
