#27 Ultimatum!
(131 pieces)

Ultimatum! was made from a vintage litho featuring two Scottie dogs in a standoff for a bone! Too cute! The copyright on the print is ©1941! This litho was an old, original print which I purchased at auction. Under the print, on the part I trimmed away, was the title, Ultimatum! It is unsigned, and I do not know who the artist is. The print has been mounted with acid-free adhesive and sealed with acrylic sealer. The puzzle is rectangular and measures approx 10 3/4" X 8". There is an average of 1.5 pieces per square inch. Puzzle has been cut from 1/4" 5-ply Baltic Birch using blades with a thickness of just 0.008!

The edges are scalloped, which makes it more difficult to solve than if the edges were straight. (This is my second puzzle done with scalloped edge... I did not use pattern for the edge but cut freehand) This is a fun puzzle because of the cute little figurals in theme with the print. The color scheme is also fun for puzzle working!

Besides my "key" signature piece (signed, numbered, and dated on the back),
there are 7 other figurals- all are scottish terrier silhouettes!

This puzzle was cut in knobby style - highly interlocking except for around figurals and the small section which is color-line cut (part of black dog against blue background has a bit of color-line cutting for added difficulty)

Selection of pieces (backside) to illustrate my knobby style of cutting:

Puzzle comes disassembled inside the beautiful wood box with hinged lid shown below. I purchased this box new, and finished the outside with stain and varnish. I believe this is basswood. My label is affixed to the inside of the box with the puzzle title, number, and piece count. The box measures 6 1/2" X 4 1/4" X 4" high.
